ANTOINE GHAFARI / LEBANON/ NEW YORK
Mr. Ghafari has over thirty 35 years experience as an international lawyer, linking the Middle East with the USA and Europe. In addition to being Partner and Of-Counsel to various prominent Law Firms in the Middle East, Europe and USA, Mr. Ghafari served also as In-House General Counsel, Senior Vice President and Managing Director (Legal) of corporations and banks both in the U.S. and in the Middle East. He was also elected President of Municipality of Damour, Lebanon (1998-2004), a political position involving the reconstruction of war destroyed coastal Mediterranean City, implementation of new active environmental policies, and interfacing and acting with Mediterranean Cities on preserving and cleaning the Mediterranean Sea.
Antoine has advised and counseled his clients on a host of international legal matters and cases, in business structures, commercial transactions, real estate matters that have included the acquisition and sales of developed and undeveloped real estate properties, project financings, mortgage loans and refinancing, construction loans and workouts, and international investment issues.
He has represented major investment funds specializing in real estate and corporate investments in the Middle East, the US and Europe, and has represented various clients focused on real estate-oriented joint ventures throughout the Middle East, Europe, South America and the United States. He has also engaged in high-level negotiations and closings of real estate, commercial and industrial transactions and projects, with their concomitant problems involving corporate structuring, international taxation exposures, real property and contractual considerations.
Antoine received his undergraduate degree from College Notre Dame de Jambour (Beirut), his law degrees in French Law and Lebanese Law from St. Joseph University (Beirut) and a Masters in Law (“LLM”) from the University of Pennsylvania (Philadelphia, Pa., USA). He is fluent in English, French and Arabic.
